Frequently asked questions

Can't find what you need? Use the contact page and we'll reply within one business day.

Where do you ship from?

Our studio is in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, in the Greater Toronto Area. All physical orders ship from there with Stallion Express. Canadian orders typically arrive in 2-7 business days; US orders via USPS take 3-7 business days.

What is your shipping policy?

We offer free standard shipping on Canadian orders over $75 CAD. Standard shipping rates apply for orders under $75 and all US orders. Expedited shipping is available at checkout. All orders ship within 1-2 business days from our Greater Toronto Area studio in Ajax, Ontario.

How long does shipping take?

Canadian orders: 2-7 business days for standard shipping, 1-3 days for expedited. US orders: 3-7 business days via USPS. All orders are processed within 1-2 business days. You'll receive a tracking number by email once your order ships.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Every Terra product is 100% vegan and never tested on animals. We use only plant-based ingredients sourced from suppliers we audit for ethical practices. We are Leaping Bunny certified and do not use any animal-derived ingredients including honey, beeswax, lanolin, or tallow.

What is cold process soap?

Cold process soap is made by combining oils and fats with lye (sodium hydroxide) to create a chemical reaction called saponification. Unlike commercial soap that uses synthetic detergents, our cold process soap retains natural glycerin and is cured for 4-6 weeks to create a hard, long-lasting bar that's gentle on skin.

How long do your soap bars last?

With proper care, our soap bars last 3-4 weeks with daily use. To extend life, keep bars dry between uses on a draining soap dish, away from direct shower spray. Our cold process curing method creates harder, longer-lasting bars compared to softer glycerin soaps.

Are natural soaps better for sensitive skin?

Many people with sensitive skin find natural soaps gentler because they lack synthetic fragrances, sulfates, and harsh detergents found in commercial body washes. Our soaps retain natural glycerin and use simple, plant-based ingredients. However, individual reactions vary — we list all ingredients clearly so you can avoid any specific sensitivities.

How should I store handmade soap?

Store unused soap in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. A linen closet or dresser drawer works well. Properly stored, our soap stays fresh for 12+ months. Once in use, keep the bar on a draining soap dish to prevent it from sitting in water and becoming soft.

How long do I have access to a training course?

Course access is for life. Once enrolled, you can revisit any lesson, download recipes, and watch new content as we add it. There are no recurring fees or expiration dates — your enrollment is permanent.

What do I need to start making soap at home?

For cold process soap making, you'll need: lye (sodium hydroxide), oils (olive, coconut, etc.), a digital scale, stick blender, heat-safe containers, molds, and safety gear (goggles, gloves). Our training courses provide complete equipment lists, supplier recommendations, and safety protocols. Melt and pour requires less equipment — just a microwave, base, and molds.

Is soap making safe for beginners?

Cold process soap making requires working with lye, which is caustic and requires safety precautions (gloves, goggles, ventilation). Our training courses teach proper handling step-by-step. Melt and pour soap making is completely safe for beginners with no lye handling required. Choose the method that matches your comfort level.

Can I gift a product or course?

Yes. At checkout, select "this is a gift" and we'll email a digital gift card with redemption instructions to your recipient. You can schedule delivery for a specific date. Gift cards never expire and can be used for any product or course.

How do subscriptions work?

Choose any product, select monthly or quarterly delivery, and we'll automatically charge and ship on your schedule. You can pause, skip a shipment, or cancel anytime from your account dashboard. There are no fees for changes or cancellation. Subscribers save 10% on every order.

What is your return policy?

Physical products: 30-day return window for unopened items. Damaged items: free replacement or refund with photo documentation within 7 days of delivery. Training courses: 14-day refund if you've completed less than 25% of the content. Contact hello@terrabath.com to initiate a return.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes. We partner with boutiques, spas, and retail stores across Canada and the US. Email wholesale@terrabath.com with your shop name, location, and estimated order volume. We'll send our wholesale catalog, pricing, and minimum order requirements. Typical minimums are $200 CAD for first orders, $100 for reorders.

Is my payment information safe?

We never store your credit card numbers. All payments process through Stripe, which maintains PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance (the highest security standard). We also support 3D Secure authentication for additional fraud protection. Your billing information is encrypted and transmitted securely.

What ingredients do you never use?

We never use: sulfates (SLS/SLES), parabens, synthetic fragrances, phthalates, petroleum derivatives, artificial colors, or animal-derived ingredients. See our full ingredient philosophy at /en/about/ingredient-philosophy for details on what we avoid and why.
