Read the calculated grams (and estimated milliliters) from the results panel. Weigh fragrance on a 0.1 g scale. For soap, blend at light trace; for emulsions, add at cool-down below 40°C unless your supplier specifies otherwise.

How much fragrance oil should I use in cold process soap?

Most makers scent cold process soap at 2% to 5% of total oil weight, with 3% as a common starting point. Essential oils are often used at lower rates (0.5% to 3%) because they are more concentrated. Always check your supplier IFRA or SDS limits for the specific scent.

Is fragrance calculated on oil weight or total batch weight?

For cold process soap, fragrance is typically calculated as a percentage of total oil weight (fats only, before lye and water). For lotions and balms, it is usually a percentage of the entire finished formula. This calculator adjusts the weight basis automatically when you change product type.

What is the difference between fragrance oil and essential oil rates?

Fragrance oils are blended synthetic and natural aroma compounds designed for cosmetic use at higher loadings. Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts and generally require lower percentages. This tool applies separate recommended ranges for each material type.

How do I convert fragrance percentage to grams?

Multiply your batch weight in grams by the usage rate and divide by 100. Example: 500 g oils at 3% = 15 g fragrance. This calculator performs the math instantly and also estimates milliliters and drops for quick measuring.
